BT8 BN sought to set up Science Parks in 3 regions

The Science and Technology Ministry is seeking Cabinet approval for a Bt8.4-billion budget to fund the establishment of a science park in each of three regions, with the projects aimed at developing innovation for local commodity-based businesses.

The Cabinet is expected to consider the proposal at its meeting today, a Science Ministry source said yesterday.

The science parks will be located at universities in three designated regions: at Chiang Mai University in the North, at Khon Kaen University in the Northeast and at Prince of Songkla University in the South.

The main focus for each region will be to research and seek innovation to enhance the competitiveness and value chain for major local commodity-based businesses. That means pursuing research and innovation for rice in the North, chicken in the Northeast and rubber in the South, according to a report in THE NATION.  >>More here
