Rio de Janeiro's technology ecosystem mapped by local investment agency

Rio Negócios, the official agency for promoting investment for Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, has launched an online, digital map as part of its campaign to promote tech-driven economic development in the region.

The map is a joint initiative of Rio Negócios in partnership with Imagem – the official distributor of Esri in Brazil, one of the most recognized intelligent mapping software companies in the world. The project is intended to help attract new investments, give visibility to local companies and strengthen the emerging and transformative tech community.

"For the first time the digital technology ecosystem in the City will be localized in a comprehensive fashion mapping investors, companies, incubators, accelerators, co-working spaces and events," according to Rio Negócios.

“The digital map is a fundamental instrument for the development of this sector in Rio. Through it we will have a vision of the entire ecosystem and will be able to facilitate the fortification of this community. In the last couple of years the city has received a large part of the startup deals in the country and has the potential to be the major technology hub in Latin America”, says Marcelo Haddad, executive director of Rio Negócios.

The digital map will be a dynamic platform that will be constantly updated allowing new companies and digital startups to include themselves on the “business map” by filling out a form on the site.
