Public Company Created to Manage Science Parks

The Council of Ministers (Cabinet) on Tuesday approved the creation of a company to manage the Science and Technology Parks which are in the process of being created.

The company, ENPCT, will have its headquarters in Maluana, about 90 kilometres north of the capital city Maputo. This is where the country's first Science and Technology Park will be inaugurated later this year.

According to the government spokesperson, Deputy Justice Minister Alberto Nkutumula, the Science and Technology Parks are integrated complexes that aim to develop scientific research, promote innovation, generate knowledge and develop human capital.

The Parks will seek to establish "incubators" of technology and business, aligned with the activities of higher education and research institutions, so as to generate enterprises based on technology and to develop products and services that can both be sold in Mozambique and exported, according to a report in allAfrica.  >>More here
