Maker Faire showcases Midwest innovations
Civic leaders are striving to make Kansas City “America’s Most Entrepreneurial City” through one of the Big 5 initiatives of the Chamber of Commerce. We at Union Station see our role in providing educational resources to better develop aspiring entrepreneurs, and to spark their imaginations to create the Next Big Thing.
That big idea could come from one of more than 270 makers who will converge on Union Station on Saturday and Sunday as part of Maker Faire: Kansas City.
This annual weekend event offers our region’s biggest show-and-tell festival celebrating innovation, invention and creativity.
Maker Faires started seven years ago in San Mateo, Calif., by O’Reilly Media, publisher of MAKE magazine. Maker Faires allow people to demonstrate the power and popularity of making, and the amazing creative and technical wizardry that is happening in homes, hacker spaces and small businesses in our city and across the country, according to a report in THE KANSAS CITY STAR . >>More here
